Firstly, get yourself a digital SLR camera. The quality of an SLR is unbelievable, and hey, if its good enough for catwalk models, its good enough for Bonsai! Experiment with lighting and backdrops. We suggest setting your tree up against a white wall with the best viewing angle clearly displayed. For the best results use a lighting kit, such as a Bowens Kit. these are easily hired from Camera equipment stores. Experiment with overexposure, aperture settings and contrast/brightness. Eventually your tree will dazzle on the front page of a Bonsai website!
