Care of Crape Myrtle Bonsais Over the Winter

Dear Bonsai-Made-Easy-

I have started a few miniature crape myrtle bonsais and they been outside all summer. I haven't begun actually training them yet, but I have planted them in pots. I'm in northern Delaware(zone 6b) and I'm wondering what to do with them over the winter. I'm thinking they need to be cold(shouldn't bring them in the warm part of the house, I assume). If this assumption is true, can I leave them in the unattached garage or should I keep them outside buried in mulch? Also, should I prune and start training them before this winter starts, or in the spring? Thank you in advance for any help you can be. -Jim
