Growing from seed

Hi, I'm growing my first Bansai from seed (pic attached). Seems to be going well but I am just trying to figure out the basics. Can you tell the species from the pic? Can I grow it indoors as ideally I'd like to...

Excellent website by the way!

Hi Nicholas.

Nice move to go the 'whole 9 yards' and start a tree from scratch!

We applaud you!

Unfortunately, it is too hard to tell from the picture exactly what species you have there........ At that age there are literally hundreds of trees it could be!

However, this doesn't matter.

Basically, until you get an idea of the species, you will be able to grow it indoors, provided there is enough light and warmth - two key elements for plant growth!

Come back to us when the species is more identifiable?

Thanks for stopping by!

1 Year old and going strong!
by: Nick

My tree is now approaching the 1-year mark and there are signs of a branch appearing (see pic). I'm a little worried about its first winter, but I think he's pretty strong and will survive it outside :)

6 Month Update
by: Anonymous

Hey all, my Bansai is 6 months old now and whilst making slow progress its certainly identifiable progress. The shoot has hardened now into a much stiffer structure, and new leaves are appearing as time wears on. It definitely seems to like the sun, unfortunately this is hard to come by in London which could explain slow growth.
