How soon should I begin pruning/pinching?

I received a Redwood Bonsai Forest kit in February and have planted the seeds. The seedlings are now about 3-4" tall (there are 4 of them) planted in a shallow dish.

I know that bonsai is a lot about pruning and pinching, but when should I start?

Hi Anne,

Basically you won't actually be able to prune until there is visible dense growth and branches!

You will probably be looking at seriously giving pruning a shot after around 2 years(ish). Obviously this depends on how well your trees are doing!
